What Does A Missing Tooth Say About You?

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Dallas Mini-Implants When you meet someone in Dallas who is missing a front tooth, what does that say to you? Do you wonder if they were in an accident? Do you automatically start making assumptions about their income, level of education and overall physical health?

Though it is extremely unfair, we are often judged (and misjudged) by our appearance. Even if a person is impeccably dressed and groomed, a missing front tooth detracts from the overall pleasing impression.

Here is a personal story from a woman who lost a tooth:

I lost my job and along with it my dental insurance, then a month later, one of my front teeth. It has been very hard to find work…. and I know the missing tooth has cost me several jobs.”

A missing tooth can be a big deal.

Dental implants not only restore oral health, they restore self-confidence. Dental implants are a permanent solution for missing teeth. Studies have shown that after more than 20 years, the vast majority of dental implants placed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons continue to function at peak performance. If properly cared for, dental implants can last a lifetime.

Dental implants are one of the procedures we routinely perform at Travis Walk Dental Care to help our Dallas clients regain the beautiful smile they once had. Not all cosmetic dental procedures are as extreme as teeth implants. There are many minimally-invasive remedies for unattractive smiles.

Porcelain veneers instantly provide a perfect, gleaming tooth surface for Dallas clients with broken or discolored teeth. Tooth whitening is a quick and affordable dentistry procedure in the metroplex that achieves dramatic results without requiring the removal of any tooth structure. Call Travis Walk Dental Care at 214-522-4330 for more information about smile design and restorative dentistry.

Dallas Tooth Implants

Q: For Dallas residents: When is the least expensive tooth replacement method really the most expensive?

A: When it ends up costing far more in the long run.

Many Dallas dentistry clients who lose a tooth do not understand the importance of replacing it with a dental implant. They wrongly believe that one missing tooth is not a significant problem. In fact, some people who have an abscessed tooth extracted are so glad the pain is gone that they forget that the extraction is not the solution. When a tooth is lost, the risk of losing the adjacent teeth increases dramatically.

Dr. David Scharf, a Board Certified Periodontist and Dental Implant Surgeon and a Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University College of Dentistry says:

“Many times consumers will choose to replace a missing tooth with a removable partial denture because it is the least expensive option. In the long run however, removable partial dentures may be more costly due the loss of adjacent teeth and the need for future replacements. Many people opt to replace teeth with dental implants because they do not compromise the survival of the adjacent teeth.”

Dr. Scharf notes…

“With the price of gasoline and food soaring people try to cut back wherever they can. Unfortunately choosing the least expensive options for tooth replacement can have some very costly ramifications down the road.”

If you are missing a tooth, you may still be able to save the adjacent teeth if receive a dental implant soon. A dental implant bonds chemically with the jaw bone and helps maintain its stability.

Why Aren’t You Smiling?

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Dallas Dentistry Hello, I’m Dentist Dr. Joseph Miranda. My dental practice is called Travis Walk Dental Care. We are located at 4514 Travis St., Suite 117, Dallas, Texas 75205.

You can probably imagine why I look at smiles everywhere I go in the Dallas, TX area. Whether I am working with a dental patient, having dinner at a Dallas restaurant, or attending a sporting event, I notice whether the people around me smile. Whenever I encounter someone with obvious tooth problems, I want to tell them about the cosmetic dental procedures that can completely transform their frown into a healthy and beautiful smile.

Are you one of those people who don’t want to show their teeth? I would love to talk to you about a smile makeover. Whatever your excuse is for not seeking dental treatment, I can discuss all of your concerns with you during a free consultation.

Perhaps you are afraid of dental work. Have you ever considered oral conscious sedation? With sedation dentistry, even extensive treatment is virtually pain free. Sedation will calm your mind as well as the nerves in your mouth.

Perhaps the cost of Dallas cosmetic dentistry is holding you back. My very comfortable and friendly staff will be happy to talk to you about financing plans. It is important to remember that if your teeth are decayed, postponing treatment will cost more money in the long run. Filling a cavity is far more affordable dentistry than a root canal procedure or, in the case of an extracted tooth, a dental implant.

You can contact my office online at http://www.rusmiling.com. My Dallas dental website contains information about all the general, restorative and cosmetic services we provide.

I can transform your smile into one that you will want to show all the time!

Live Better With Dental Implants in Dallas

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Dallas Implant Dentistry Ill-fitting dentures cause more problems for Dallas denture wearers than they solve. If you live with loose dentures, you probably regard them as a necessary evil. Though they certainly look better than a toothless mouth, in practical terms they leave much to be desired because they affect two essential activities: eating and talking.

Unfortunately, many frustrated the metroplex denture wearers have quit dining in restaurants or engaging in social activities because they are afraid their dentures will slip.

Dental implant procedures at Travis Walk Dental Care in Dallas are allowing former San Diego denture patients to re-engage in life.

Consider the advantages of implant anchored dentures:

  • They are stable because the implant is anchored in the bone.
  • Your denture is fixed, it will not move around in your mouth.
  • They prevent bone loss that typically occurs when teeth are removed.
  • They eliminate the necessity of regular denture realignment.
  • They do not irritate gums.
  • No denture adhesive is required.

Our San Diego dental implant bone clients who have replaced their traditional dentures with implant overdentures enthusiastically say that the dental implant cost was more than worth it.

Do you want to eat normally again? What is the value of maintaining your facial shape? Can you put a price on confidence?

If you want more information about dental implants, call 214-522-4330 to schedule an implant tooth consultation with Drs. Miranda and Lepard. Travis Walk Dental Care is located at 4514 Travis Street, Suite 117, Dallas, TX in Dallas. We have been providing advanced Dallas cosmetic dental care since 1991.

Travis Walk Dental Care on Jaw Bone Deterioration

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Dallas Jaw Bone Deterioration To remain dense, your jaw bone requires the continual stimulation and pressure of chewing, biting and talking. Each of your teeth has a root structure attached to the surrounding bone material. As each tooth absorbs the forces of everyday mouth function, it stimulates the bone to which the root is attached.

When a tooth is extracted, the jaw bone that previously surrounded the root structure begins to recede. Though tooth extraction is often the only possible treatment for our Dallas patients with tooth damage beyond repair, every effort should be made to preserve the root structure.

Fortunately, tooth implants provide a new root which keeps the surrounding bone healthy and strong. A dental implant consists of a titanium post which is placed in the jaw bone. It replaces the original root and eventually integrates into the surrounding bone. After the implant has been placed and the surrounding bone has healed and meshed with the implant, a post is inserted into the implant. The new artificial tooth, or crown, is then attached to the post. Implant restoration is a safe and effective treatment for tooth loss.

Questions To Ask Your Dallas Dentist

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Questions To Ask Your Dallas Dentist Sometimes we research our Dallas mechanic or the metroplex hairdresser more thoroughly than our Dallas dental professional. Shouldn’t your dental care be far more important than the condition of your car or the style of your hair? At Travis Walk Dental Care, we love to answer questions about your teeth. You should be asking your Texas dentist any question you have about the care and status of your teeth.

For instance, you may have questions about the school of dentistry and dental specialties studied. Though important, dentistry school is not the only place to gain dental experience. Drs. Miranda and Lepard have been performing complex Texas dental procedures since 1991.

You should also be asking about the dentistry specialties your metroplex dentist offers such as tooth restoration and Invisalign invisible braces. These services may not be important to you now, but it is a good idea to have an understanding of your options, and to know what your the metroplex dentist has to offer.

If you are contemplating smile restoration, tooth implants, or tooth whitening, evaluate the metroplex cosmetic dentistry options with your dentist. Look at before and after pictures, and ask your the metroplex dentist what procedures may be right for you.

General dentists offer a variety of the metroplex dental services such as tooth extractions and tooth fillings, and can treat every member of the family. At Travis Walk Dental Care, we specialize in cosmetic dentistry, dental crowns and procelain veneers.

You have many choices for your Dallas family dentistry. We welcome questions about all aspects of our Travis Walk Dental Care practice. Visit us at 4514 Travis Street, Suite 117, Dallas, TX in Dallas and talk to a member of our classy and technologically advanced team.
