Treating Bite Problems in Dallas

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

Treating Bite Problems in Dallas Malocclusions (bite problems) include overbites, underbites and crossbites. Jaw alignment disorders restrict proper chewing, talking, and swallowing. They can also cause teeth to shift around in the mouth. Dallas dentistry patients with bite problems are at a greater risk for tooth decay and periodontal disease because bite misalignment often makes it difficult to maintain proper oral hygiene.

When the lower jaw is smaller than the upper jaw, it is called an overbite. When the situation is reversed, it is called an underbite. Crossbite occurs when lower teeth are in the wrong position.

Bite problems can cause headaches and TMJ pain. Some Mid-cities dental patients with severe bite problems develop a distorted facial shape and damaged teeth.

If you suspect your toddler or older child has a bite problem, it is important to see your Dallas dentist as soon as possible. Bite issues and their various related problems get worse over time.

At Travis Walk Dental Care, we diagnose and successfully treat bite problems in addition to providing general and cosmetic dentistry. We can be reached at 214-522-4330. Our office is located at 4514 Travis Street, Suite 117, in Dallas, TX. You can find out more about us at www.rusmiling.com.

Most of our patients live in Dallas or nearby in the metroplex or Mid-cities. Tooth Decay in Dallas?

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Dallas Teeth Whitening At Travis Walk Dental Care, we restore decayed teeth to create smiles that are both healthy and beautiful. Recent advances in both techniques and materials have made the ‘impossible’ not only possible, but affordable for everyone in Dallas as well.

Drs. Miranda and Lepard have been restoring teeth since 1991. Ongoing training is essential for staying on the cutting edge of the cosmetic dentistry industry.

Decay is the most common Dallas dental problem and the second most common disease in the nation (number one is the common cold). If you have one or more teeth with decay, it’s time to take care of them.

Fillings, inlays, onlays and dental crowns are used to restore teeth for our Dallas cosmetic dental patients. Even the most basic procedure – filling a cavity – has evolved. There are several types of new materials available including porcelain and composite resin. Each has specific strengths and aesthetic considerations. Dallas patients who replace silver amalgam with tooth-colored fillings love getting the metal out of their smile.

Inlays and onlays are more extensive restorations. There are two types: direct or indirect. Direct inlays and onlays are made in your the metroplex cosmetic dental office on the spot and applied in one visit. Indirect inlays and onlays are fabricated in a the metroplex dental lab. They usually require a second visit but the results are well worth the extra trip.

When a Dallas client has a tooth that cannot be restored with an inlay or an onlay, a natural-looking dental crown is the answer. At Travis Walk Dental Care, we create dental crowns that blend in perfectly with the rest of your teeth. Let us show you some photos of patients who have received smile makeovers – you will not see any “Chiclet” crowns that stick out like a sore thumb. In fact, you won’t be able to tell which of our Dallas cosmetic dental patients have crowns.

Travis Walk Dental Care is located at 4514 Travis Street, Suite 117, in Dallas, TX.  Drs. Miranda and Lepard are currently accepting new patients. Call 214-522-4330 to schedule an aesthetic dental consultation.

Veneers Create Stunning Smiles in Dallas

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Veneers Create Stunning Smiles in DallasVeneers have myriad applications in Dallas cosmetic dentistry. With veneers, you can transform your smile without significant restorative dental work.

Is your tooth enamel worn and thin? Tooth-colored porcelain veneers have the translucency of healthy tooth enamel. Many Dallas dental clients have received veneers to cover worn enamel. Some believe they look twenty years younger!

Have your teeth developed uneven edges? Tooth grinding, natural wear and other factors can roughen tooth edges. Veneers are a minimally invasive correction for uneven tooth edges. Veneers are a popular treatment for the metroplex cosmetic dentistry patients.

Do you have chips or cracks in your teeth? If your teeth are otherwise healthy, porcelain veneers provide a flawless tooth surface. Are your teeth yellow or gray? While teeth whitening can fix this problem, so can veneers. Veneers can be fabricated in any shade to perk up your smile while still blending naturally with your skin tones.

Porcelain veneers are paper-thin, tooth-shaped covers that are affixed to the front of teeth. Traditional veneers required the removal of a thin layer of tooth structure. Lumineers are applied to unaltered teeth.

Veneers are strong, natural looking and one of the most affordable cosmetic dentistry procedures in areas such as Mid-cities, Ft. Worth, and Dallas. Veneers are usually far less expensive than complete crowns, yet they are just as strong and beautiful.

Dallas aesthetic dentists love veneers because they correct a multitude of tooth problems. At Travis Walk Dental Care, we would be happy to show you what veneers can do for you. Travis Walk Dental Care is located at 4514 Travis Street, Suite 117, in Dallas, TX. We provide premium dental care for many of your friends and neighbors in the greater Dallas area. Our phone number is 214-522-4330.

Seeking A Relationship In Dallas?

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Affordable Dallas Cosmetic Dentistry Are you one of the many Dallas singles looking for a significant other? Perhaps you recently broke off a dysfunctional partnership and are determined to make a better choice this time around. I’m not talking about a relationship with a girlfriend, boyfriend, or spouse – I’m talking about something equally important – your relationship with your Dallas dentist.

Why did you break up with your last dentist? Did he/she cause you fear, guilt and pain? Perhaps you quit seeing your dentist because it was a love-hate relationship – you hated going and he/she loved making you wait. Was your previous Mid-cities cosmetic dentist insensitive to your concerns? Was he/she a poor communicator? Perhaps you have simply moved into the Dallas area and need a new provider.

We are Drs. Miranda and Lepard of Travis Walk Dental Care.  We provide cosmetic dentistry in the Dallas area.  We understand that many patients are nervous (okay – downright terrified) about dental visits. We also realize that no client wants to be given a shameful lecture about their oral health.

Though we have years of experience and extensive training on all the latest cosmetic dental procedures such as porcelain veneers and dental implants, there are some things that can’t be learned in dental school such as how to build trusting relationships with your patients and create a relaxed atmosphere in your dental practice. I understand that Dallas dental clients can feel very vulnerable as they lie in the chair with their mouth open.  Our staff maintains a friendly environment in our pleasant office. We manage our practice carefully to minimize waiting and provide ample time for each valued patient.

Effective communication is a priority. We make sure our Dallas dentistry patients understand their restorative and cosmetic options and answer all their questions before we develop a treatment plan.

If you are currently seeking a considerate, experienced, and sensitive Dallas dentist, we look forward to meeting you. My phone number is 214-522-4330.

Why Aren’t You Smiling?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Dallas Dentistry Hello, I’m Dr. Joseph Miranda DDS.  My cosmetic dental practice is called Travis Walk Dental Care. We are located at 4514 Travis Street, Suite 117, Dallas, TX. You can reach us by calling 214-522-4330.

You can probably imagine why I look at smiles everywhere I go in the Dallas area. Whether I am working with a Mid-cities dental patient, having dinner at a the metroplex restaurant, or attending a Ft. Worth sporting event, I notice whether the people around me smile. Whenever I encounter someone with obvious tooth problems, I want to tell them about the procedures that can completely transform their frown into a healthy and beautiful smile.

Are you one of those people who don’t want to show their teeth? I would love to talk to you about a smile makeover. Whatever your excuse is for not seeking dental treatment, I can discuss all of your concerns with you during a free consultation.

Perhaps you are afraid of dental work. Have you ever considered oral conscious sedation? With sedation dentistry, even extensive treatment is virtually pain free. Sedation will calm your mind as well as the nerves in your mouth.

Perhaps the cost of Dallas cosmetic dentistry is holding you back. My classy and technologically advanced staff will be happy to talk to you about financing plans. It is important to remember that if your teeth are decayed, postponing treatment will cost more money in the long run. Filling a cavity is far more affordable dentistry than a root canal procedure or, in the case of an extracted tooth, a dental implant.

You can contact my office at 214-522-4330 or online at http://www.rusmiling.com. My Dallas family dental website contains information about all the general, restorative and aesthetic services we provide.

I can transform your smile into one that you will want to show all the time!

What Does A Missing Tooth Say About You?

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Dallas Mini-Implants When you meet someone in Dallas who is missing a front tooth, what does that say to you? Do you wonder if they were in an accident? Do you automatically start making assumptions about their income, level of education and overall physical health?

Though it is extremely unfair, we are often judged (and misjudged) by our appearance. Even if a person is impeccably dressed and groomed, a missing front tooth detracts from the overall pleasing impression.

Here is a personal story from a woman who lost a tooth:

I lost my job and along with it my dental insurance, then a month later, one of my front teeth. It has been very hard to find work…. and I know the missing tooth has cost me several jobs.”

A missing tooth can be a big deal.

Dental implants not only restore oral health, they restore self-confidence. Dental implants are a permanent solution for missing teeth. Studies have shown that after more than 20 years, the vast majority of dental implants placed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons continue to function at peak performance. If properly cared for, dental implants can last a lifetime.

Dental implants are one of the procedures we routinely perform at Travis Walk Dental Care to help our Dallas clients regain the beautiful smile they once had. Not all cosmetic dental procedures are as extreme as teeth implants. There are many minimally-invasive remedies for unattractive smiles.

Porcelain veneers instantly provide a perfect, gleaming tooth surface for Dallas clients with broken or discolored teeth. Tooth whitening is a quick and affordable dentistry procedure in the metroplex that achieves dramatic results without requiring the removal of any tooth structure. Call Travis Walk Dental Care at 214-522-4330 for more information about smile design and restorative dentistry.
